Disable Comments is one of the most popular WordPress plugins with over 1 million users. We are now managing Disable Comments, just the way we always contribute for WordPress & Open Source community.
Originally developed in 2011 by Samir Shah, Disable Comments gives its users full control over disabling comments on WordPress pages, posts and media.
This free plugin has gathered over 1 million users within short time. Unfortunately, the core developer Samir Shah has stated that he no longer has the time to maintain it. Instead of selling the plugin for profit, he auctioned it for charity. The highest bidder would have to donate to Effective Altruism Funds (EAF), a charitable organization, in exchange for ownership.
After a highly competitive and intense auction, we are super excited to adopt Disable Comments. With this acquisition, our core goal is to give back to the WordPress community that we love so much.

With the new release of Disable Comments, we will be adding WP-CLI control for comment-related settings so that developers can use this command line tool to disable comments on posts, pages and attachments.
✔️ Quick Setup Wizard To Get Started Easily: The new revamped Disable Comments plugin now comes with a quick setup wizard that you can use to get started easily and disable comments from your website.
✔️ Disable Comments On Docs And Products: With Disable Comments 2.0 you can now disable comments on a new post type. If you have a WordPress knowledge base plugin installed, then you can disable comments on your documentation pages using Disable Comments plugin.
Similarly, if you are running an eCommerce website using WordPress plugins like WooCommerce, you will have an option to disable comments on product pages and stop spammers.
✔️ Delete Certain Comment Types: You now have the option to permanently delete certain comment types from your WordPress website. These include product reviews as well as generic comments. If you choose to delete comments from your website, they cannot be retrieved without a database backup.
✔️ Disable Comments Via XML-RPC: The XML-RPC specification for WordPress allows applications outside of WordPress such as other blogging platforms and desktop clients to interact with your WordPress website. This means that others can use this XML-RPC specification to leave comments on your WordPress posts and pages.
To prevent this from happening, the new update from Disable Comments will come with a feature to block comments via XML-RPC.
✔️ Disable Comments Via REST API: REST API is an interface used by developers to access WordPress from outside your WordPress installation using JavaScript. So others can use this interface to leave comments on your WordPress website. So the new update for Disable Comments will come with a feature to block comments made via REST API.
