Step 1 – Retrieve Pinterest API Keys
First of all, you need to create a Pinterest App from your Pinterest Developer Account. If you already have an app, you can skip this step. After you have logged in to your Pinterest Developer Account, click on ‘Start Building'. You will be redirected to the ‘Apps' page afterward.
Afterward, check and agree with the terms & policy and hit the ‘Create App' button.
Simply go ahead and fill the up necessary information regarding your Application. Afterward, hit the ‘Create' button and your application will be successfully created.
From your Apps page, you will find the ‘App ID' and ‘App Secret'. You can copy them from here.
To connect WP Scheduled Posts with Pinterest, go to the Apps page of your Pinterest account. Scroll to the ‘Platforms' section of the page. Insert the ‘Site URL' where you are using WP Scheduled Posts and save changes. You will then have to insert the ‘Redirect URI'. You will find the Redirect URI by navigating to your WordPress Dashboard -> Scheduled Posts -> Integrations -> Pinterest Form. Simply just paste the ‘Redirect URI' here and hit the ‘Enter' button. You will be good to go.
Step 2 – Connect Pinterest with WP Scheduled Posts
After retrieving API Keys from your Pinterest Account, go to your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to wp-admin -> Scheduled Posts. Then, simply open up the ‘Integrations' tab and insert the respective API keys you have copied in the previous under ‘Pinterest Form' section.
Besides, make sure to insert your ‘Pinterest Board Name' where you want to your WordPress posts to be shared. The Board name will be like this example: ‘aaronramsey/places-to-go‘ After you have done so, hit the ‘Save' button.
Afterward, hit on the ‘Generate Access Token' button. After allowing the permission to the App, an Access token will be successfully generated and WP Scheduled Posts will be connected with your Pinterest profile. After you are done, make sure to click on the ‘Save' button.
Step 3 – Share Your WordPress Posts on Pinterest Right Away
If you schedule your WordPress post, it will be automatically be shared on the Pinterest account. Besides, if you want, you can even instantly share your live post on Pinterest as well. To do that, go to your post and navigate to ‘Social Share Settings' and choose ‘Pinterest' social share platform. Simply hit the ‘Share' button and your post will be instantly be shared on your Pinterest board you have chosen.
